These are phrases that Marine often uses that may be confusing without appropriate context.
Marine-y Specific
Section titled “Marine-y Specific”A “bear” refers to any cause of anxiety. Derived from the theory that brain treats unwarranted anxiety the same way it would an active threat from a predator (e.g. a bear).
The Divorce Bear
Section titled “The Divorce Bear”The “Divorce Bear” is a sub-class of bear. Initially starting as anxiety around impending break-ups, the “Divorce Bear” now also refers to wanting to recommend breaking up to couples in dire situations.
Duck with Boobs
Section titled “Duck with Boobs”A “duck with boobs” refers to when a reader comically misunderstands the connection between two story elements or misses them entirely. The original context comes from an exchange with DuskDragonXIII on Bluesky in which he attempted to visually depict this scenario, and Marine responded that the scribble looked like a duck with boobs.
