- Base Saihate Station canon.
- 竹 ran away from home due to the copious abuse but tried really hard to pick himself up.
- Did some night classes to try and catch up just enough to be able to get a stable job.
- Funded his night classes by performing and met a nice girl.
- Had a run in with his older brother who happened to find him and it led to him breaking up with his girlfriend and skipping town.
- 竹 managed to land an office job, though he was definitely less skilled than the others that were hired at the same time as him.
- Kinda got it out of pity.
- 汐 joined the company a bit later.
- 汐’s living alone since his dad died.
- Kind of just been coasting by.
- He completed his studies and had a promising career in anthropology, but just wasn’t coping with the grief.
- 汐 actually used to watch 竹’s shows as a way to get out of the house.
- Place just felt haunted by his dad and it frequently got overwhelming.
- 竹 was put in charge of him (low risk candidate and under-performing supervisor; it would take a miracle for him to fuck this up.)
- 汐 and 竹 getting along and 竹 taking him out for lunch and stuff and desperately trying to stop him from causing a disruption.
- 汐’s trying, he’s just easily excited.
- 汐 doing super well at work and accidentally showing 竹 up all the time, not realising 竹’s getting really down about it.
- 汐 eventually fucking up with a client super bad but 竹 ends up taking the blame for him and is now doing even worse at work.
- Upper management is pretty sick of 竹’s shit at this point and then his line manager is super sick of him because his poor performance reflects on them.
- Drifts away from 汐 just in his depression era.
- 竹 finding out some of his family (including his older brother) died in a fire.
- Sort of laughs, damn he wishes he could take credit for that.
- 竹 witnesses 汐 killing his ex-girlfriend and hits his 4 Deception to be like “I’ll protect you so lets run away together”
- Fully intending to hand him over to the police.
- They instead wake up at Saihate Station and 竹 doesn’t remember the murder.
Ending Z
Section titled “Ending Z”- Cooking with 汐, listening to his problems, sitting on the beach; just really connecting with 汐 without the memory of what he did.
- 竹 can’t help seeing him as just a lonely kid that really doesn’t fit in anywhere.
- Neither of them really made friends at work besides each other.
- Everyone felt 竹 would drag them down.
- 汐 was just too boistrous for everyone.
- He went to quite a few drinking parties in the early days and drunk 汐 was too much for most.
- He’d get handed off to 竹 a lot, since he was officially his responsibility.

- 汐 really wasn’t doing well living alone.
- 竹 is honestly flattered that 汐 loved his shows that much.
- Despite everything, he’d have rather kept doing shows like that for audiences like 汐 than working a stable office job he was no good at.
- But there is no audience like 汐. There’s just 汐.
- Making up for each others faults.
- Even after remembering, 竹 can’t bring himself to think of handing 汐 over anymore.
- He did it because he loved him.
- Most people, he killed to protect him.
- That just happened to be a selfish one.
- 竹 can be selfish too.
